چکیده

Total hip metal arthroplasty (THA) constitutes an important proportion of the standard clinical implant usage in Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering. A computational nonlinear optimization is performed with two commonly materials Metal-on-Metal (MoM) THA. Namely, Cast Co-Cr Alloy Titanium. The principal result numerical determination K adimensional-constant parameter model. Results from a new more powerful algorithm than previous contributions, show significant improvements. Numerical figures for dual give acceptable model-parameter values low residuals. These results are demonstrated 2D 3D Graphical/Interior Optimization also. According to findings/calculations, optimized metal-model parameters mathematically proven verified. Mathematical consequences obtained model improvements vitro simulation methodology. wear magnitude determinations these data constitute innovation method. In consequence, erosion prediction laboratory experimental testing THA adds valuable information literature. Applications lead medical physics material/metal-THA designs.

Catastrophic wear in a metal-on-ceramic total hip arthroplasty.

A 51-year-old woman came to our clinic 6 months after a right total hip arthroplasty. She had noticed a slowly growing mass in the proximal thigh and referred progressive pain in the right groin. Plain radiography revealed premature acetabular cup aseptic loosening, and in the computed tomography study, a 14-cm-diameter mass was observed. Revision surgery was performed, showing a metal-on-ceram...

Metal in Total Hip Arthroplasty: Wear Particles, Biology, and Diagnosis.

Total hip arthroplasty (THA) has been performed for nearly 50 years. Between 2006 and 2012, more than 600,000 metal-on-metal THA procedures were performed in the United States. This article reviews the production of metal wear debris in a metal-on-metal articulation and the interaction of cobalt and chromium ions that ultimately led to a dramatic decline in the use of metal-on-metal THA articul...

Effects of metal-on-metal wear on the host immune system and infection in hip arthroplasty

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Joint replacement with metal-on-metal (MOM) bearings have gained popularity in the last decades in young and active patients. However, the possible effects of MOM wear debris and its corrosion products are still the subject of debate. Alongside the potential disadvantages such as toxicity, the influences of metal particles and metal ions on infection risk are unclear. M...

Polyethylene wear in total hip arthroplasty.

Polyethylene wear increasingly has been blamed for osteolysis and granuloma formation after total joint arthroplasty. The authors evaluated the wear difference between bearing surfaces of stainless steel, cobalt chrome, and titanium alloy. They also compared cemented all-polyethylene molded cups with cemented metal-backed molded acetabular cups. These were compared with molded and machined poly...

components for the reconstruction of the acetabulum and metal femoral head components for conventional THA and RHA. The ACCIS®metal components are made of a chrome-cobalt-molybdenum alloy, but are different from other metal-on-metal prostheses. The surfaces of the metal components are engineered with the ceramic Titanium-Niobium-Nitride (TiNbN) in order to minimize metal particulate wear, to pr...
